Our Projects

Rear Garden Landscape in Grotton

The Project Brief

The initial meeting with these clients was in the summer or 2021. They, as many clients had a good grasp of what they wanted from the garden but needed our input on products and how to make things work and flow.
They wanted to move away from the traditional sandstone paving, which under the huge trees made the garden incredibly slippery.
They were looking to make this section of the garden very minimal as they had just acquired a large plot of lawn behind the property that would be the family lawn for the children and dogs.

The Challenges

We finally broke ground on this project in January 2022. It was the first job after Christmas. The weather was fine to begin with but it soon became our nemesis.

Another was to how we would connect the top lawn to the new garden. We ended up re arranging the rockery stone around the trees at the back to create a set of natural steps. We installed a large sliding gate that would open up both areas but could be closed in the evenings to keep the dogs in the bottom garden when required.

Lastly was the pond. Upon removal of the decking we found a pretty deep old pond that had been covered up by the previous owners. This was slap bang in the middle of our top patio and was a surprise to everyone. We soon drained the pond and filled in, we were ready to start laying.

The Outcomes

The outcome was amazing. The products used on this garden really stand out. We used the herringbone planks for the top patio, they’re a feature all by themselves, we edged the top patio with grey wood effect porcelain bespoke cut to shape and size on site.

For the bottom patio we used the stunning rustic walnut porcelain. Ive never seen such a fantastic mix of colours like what these tiles provide. We grouted with a light brown mix and it made the tiles pop. They were absolutely beautiful.

A new real lawn to bring some greenery, re arranging the rockery to provide steps and planting opportunities.

Its a simple but effective way to bring life to the garden, by using tiles that had a mixture of colours, although the majority of the garden was paved it had a ton of interest.

The clients were delighted, they watched the whole progress come together as they were working from home.
